NACT Festival 2008
Six Theatre companies from across Nebraska
traveled to the historic Fox Theatre in North Platte to compete in the Nebraska
Association of Community Theatre's bi annual Festival July 25th-27th.
A workshop was provided on Friday night with Will Cover teaching the five things every
director should know about stage combat and on Sunday morning, Kat Cover from the Lofte
Theatre of Weeping Water presented a workshop about costuming on a shoestring. Karaoke was
provided Friday and Saturday nights by Dan ONeill and Kwik Stop Food Stores.
Competing Theatres in order of performance
were Way Out West Community Theatre, Sidney with Who
Murdered Who. Sheridan County Players, Rushville with The Wooden Pear. Community Players, Inc., Beatrice
with The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon. Minden
Community Players, Minden with Cirrius, Nebraska. St. Paul Area Community Theatre, St.
Paul with Deliver Us Not! (or Birth, Where is Thy
Sting?) and North Platte Community Playhouse, North Platte with Grace and Glorie.
The winning production was The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon by the Community
Players of Beatrice. Second place honors went to The
Wooden Pear by the Sheridan County Players of Rushville and third place went to North
Platte with their rendition of Grace and Glorie.
Beatrice and Rushville Theatres will represent Nebraska April 22nd-25th
by competing at the Region V Competition in Minden Nebraska against the winning theatres
from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri,
North Dakota and South Dakota.
Other awards presented were Outstanding Actor
to Ryan Lovell, Sheridan County Players of Rushville. Outstanding Actress was presented to
Candie Johnson, Sheridan County Players of Rushville. Outstanding Supporting Actor was
Matt Rogge, Community Players of Beatrice. Outstanding Supporting Actress went to Suzan
DeCamp, St Paul Area Community Theatre of St. Paul. Outstanding Director was Jamie Ulmer
of the Community Players in Beatrice. Outstanding Set Design went to the Sheridan County
Players of Rushville. Outstanding Costuming was given to Angelyn Nienhuser of Way Out West
Community Theatre of Sidney and Outstanding Ensemble was awarded to Community Players of
Beatrice. |
