AFLRC SWEEPSTAKES RULES

 EFFECTIVE 7/1/10 through 6/30/11

 

SECTION 1. No club or association shall hold an American Fuzzy lop Sweepstakes show unless their show is sanctioned by the American Fuzzy Lop Rabbit Club by written permission.

SECTION 2. An American Fuzzy Lop sanction can only be issued to ARBA chartered clubs or associations.

SECTION 3.All requests to hold American Fuzzy Lop shows should be in the Sweepstakes Chairperson’s hands at least fifteen (15) days prior to the show date accompanied by a $10.00 open fee and/or a $8.00 youth fee, the sponsoring club’s ARBA number, the name of the club, the date of the show, the location of the show, and the name and address of the show secretary.  The Executive Board will make a determination in the event of any post-sanction request by an AFLRC member.  If no Fuzzy Lops are shown, the club is eligible to request a sanction for the next show at no further cost if the show was reported within 30 days.  Reference the American Fuzzy Lop Sanction number for approved credit.  The request must be for a show date before the next show year ends on 6/30.  No refunds will be given. 

SECTION 4. The Sweepstakes Chairperson will provide the show secretary, when necessary, with an official form that has space to list owner’s name, variety, and ear number of the Best of Breed, Best Opposite Sex of Breed, (Best Solid, Best Opposite Solid, Best Broken and Best Opposite Broken, and Best Breed Display at ARBA Convention and AFL National Show).  The form will also have spaces to provide the names of the exhibitor of the top five (5) place winners (top ten (10) place winners at ARBA Convention and AFL National Show) in all eight breed classes, wool class, and a list of the names and addresses of all owners who exhibited American Fuzzy Lops at that show.

SECTION 5. The show secretary must complete the show report and send it to the Sweepstakes Chairperson within thirty (30) days of completion of the show.

SECTION 6. Clubs which fail to return show reports as stated in Section 5 above will be penalized by being placed on a sanction suspension for the remainder of the points season until delinquent reports are received.  If reports are not submitted prior to the close of the current points season, the club will then be suspended from receiving further AFLRC sanctions for a period of one (1) year.  Following the year of suspension, the club shall remain on probation for an additional period of one (1) year, during which time sanctions may be issued.  Should a club fail to supply required sweepstakes information during the probationary period, the club will be permanently suspended from receiving any future AFLRC show sanctions.

SECTION 7. To qualify for American Fuzzy Lop sweepstakes points, the exhibitor must be a member of the American Fuzzy Lop Rabbit Club or join before the judging starts.  If an individual applies for membership and is accepted, their points will begin on the first (1st) of the month that their membership application is approved and run for the length of the paid membership until the first (1st) of the month of expiration.

SECTION 8. A member’s name and address as listed on the show entry must match the AFLRC membership record.  If individual members are showing as a team the show entry address must always match the team member that has been designated as the team address.

SECTION 9. Members may not use a rabbitry name for their show entry.  If two or more exhibitors show together, all must be members of the AFLRC prior to the beginning of judging to qualify for sweepstakes points.

SECTION 10. Memberships will be classified as adult or youth.  A youth membership conforms to the ARBA requirements for youth. Youth Option 1, competing in Youth Sweepstakes: A youth may show in an open or youth show.  All points earned will count toward the youth sweepstakes.  If a youth chooses to show as an individual in open and youth divisions at the same ARBA sanctioned show, only the youth points will count.  A youth must show in the open class immediately upon turning 19, but the club sweepstakes points will continue to be counted in the youth category by the AFLRC until the end of that points season (June 30).  Youth Option 2, competing in Open Sweepstakes:  Youth, who desire to compete in the Open Sweepstakes, require written notification to the Sweepstakes Chairman by August 1 of the sweepstakes year and have received a confirmation of their intent from the Sweepstakes Chairman.  All shows must be an open show – no youth shows will count including ARBA convention and AFLRC National show.  Youth may not compete in both open and youth sweepstakes the same year.   

SECTION 11.  The sweepstakes year will run from July 1 through June 30.

SECTION 12. 

Subsection 12A: Sweepstakes points shall be accumulated by members in good standing.   All AFLRC sanctioned shows except the ARBA Convention and AFL National Show will be awarded sweepstakes points as follows:

                                     Bonus Points:

                                Best in Show (BIS) – The total number entered in an all-breed show with a maximum of 1500 points per points per show.  No Best in Show points are awarded for an AFL Specialty Show.

Best of Breed (BOB) – 2 times the number in the breed

Best Opposite Sex of Breed (BOS)  – 1 times the number in the breed

Class Points:

First Place – 6 times the number in the class

Second  Place – 4 times the number in the class

Third Place – 3 times the number in the class

Fourth Place – 2 times the number in the class

Fifth Place – 1 times the number in the class

 

 

Subsection 12B: The ARBA Convention and the AFL National Show are considered as their own sweepstakes competition.  At the ARBA Convention and the AFL National Show, sweepstakes points will be awarded as follows to all members in good standing:

Bonus Points:

Best in Show (BIS)  – The total number entered in the ARBA Convention with a maximum of 3000 points.  No Best in Show points are awarded for the AFLRC National Show.

Best of Breed (BOB)  -  2 times the number in the breed

Best Opposite Sex of Breed  (BOS) – 1 times the number in the breed

Class Points:

First Place – 10 times the number in the class

Second Place – 9 times the number in the class

Third Place – 8 times the number in the class

Fourth Place – 7 times the number in the class

Fifth Place – 6 times the number in the class

Sixth Place – 5 times the number in the class

Seventh Place – 4 times the number in the class

Eighth Place – 3 times the number in the class

Ninth Place – 2 times the number in the class

Tenth Place – 1 times the number in the class

 

SECTION 13.  Quality Points will be awarded at all AFLRC sanctioned shows, except the ARBA Convention and the AFL National show as follows:

                                Best of Breed (BOB) – 2 points

                                Best Opposite Sex of Breed (BOS) – 1 point

At the ARBA Convention and the AFL National Show,  Quality Points will be awarded as follows:

                                Best of Breed  (BOB) – 4 points

                                Best Opposite Sex of Breed (BOS)  – 2 points

The rabbit must have earned a BOB or BOS of breed ARBA Record of Leg of Grand Champion Certificate at the show in order to receive a quality point credit.

 

SECTION 14. American Fuzzy Lop of the Year points shall be accumulated by members in good standing as follows:

                                Best of Breed (BOB)  – 2 times the number in the breed plus the class points the rabbit earned

                                                                                               Best Opposite Sex of Breed (BOS)  – 1 time the number in the breed plus the class points the rabbit earned

                                                                                The rabbit must have earned a BOB or BOS of breed ARBA Record of Leg of Grand Champion Certificate at the   show in order to receive Fuzzy Lop of the Year points at the sanctioned show.  No points are given for BIS. In addition to sweepstakes points earned, the top ten  Fuzzy Lop of the Year rabbits must  earn a minimum of 3 BOB or BOS Record of Grand Champion certificates during the sweepstakes year.                      

SECTION 15.  Herdsman of the Year points shall be accumulated by members in good standing as follows:

                                                                                                                Best of Breed (BOB) – 1 point

                                                                                                                Best Opposite Sex of Breed (BOS) – 1 point

                                                                                The rabbit must have earned a Best of Breed of Best Opposite Sex of Breed ARBA Record of Leg of Grand Champion Certificate at the show in order to receive a Herdsman point credit.  Once a rabbit has earned one (1) point in this competition, that rabbit is retired from the year’s Herdsman competition.  This includes the same rabbit shown by a different exhibitor at the same address.  No additional Herdsman points are given for the ARBA Convention or the AFL National show.

SECTION 16.

                                                                                SECTION 16.  Wool Class points shall be accumulated by members in good standing as follows:

                                                                                                                First Place – 6 times the number in the class

                                                                                                                Second Place – 4 times the number in the class

                                                                                                                Third Place – 3 times the number in the class

                                                                                                                Fourth Place – 2 times the number in the class

                                                                                                                Fifth Place – 1 times the number in the class

                                                                                At the ARBA Convention and the AFL National Show wool class points are awarded through 10th place as follows:

                                                                                                                First Place – 10 times the number in the class

                                                                                                                Second Place – 9 times the number in the class

                                                                                                                Third Place -  8 times the number in the class

                                                                                                                Fourth Place – 7 times the number in the class

                                                                                                                Fifth Place – 6 times the number in the class

                                                                                                                Sixth Place – 5 times the number in the class

                                                                                                                Seventh Place – 4 times the number in the class

`                                                                                                              Eighth Place – 3 times the number in the class

                                                                                                                Ninth Place – 2 times the number in the class

                                                                                                                Tenth Place – 1 times the number in the class

                                                                                A rabbit must be shown in the breed class before it can be entered in the wool competition.  If a rabbit is disqualified in the breed class, it cannot compete in the wool class.  To earn an award in wool for the sweepstakes year, the exhibitor must show in at least five (5) wool competitions.  Wool class is determined per ARBA Standard of the American Fuzzy Lop breed.

                                                                                SECTION 17. Display awards will be calculated by the number of rabbits a member has placed in the top ten (10) positions of each class.  The numerical value of the placement points without the multiplier shall be used to calculate the points.  In the case of a tie, the breeder with the highest placements will receive the Best Display award.  Best Display is given only at the ARBA Convention and the American Fuzzy Lop National Show.

                                                                                SECTION 18. Awards will be given at the end of the sweepstakes year.  An exhibitor must be a member of the AFLRC in good standing on June 30th to qualify for awards.

                                                                                SECTION 19.  Awards will be given in the following categories --Sweepstakes First – Tenth in the nation for points accumulated at all shows other than the ARBA Convention and the AFL National show;  ; First – Fifth in each district (minimum of 150 points); Quality Points, First – Tenth in the nation; First – Fifth in each district (minimum of 3 points); (First – Third district awards to be roughly equivalent to sixth – tenth in the nation if exhibitor has not qualified for a first – tenth nationally.  If Fourth and Fifth place awards within a district fall within the first 25 nationally, they also will receive an award roughly equivalent to sixth – tenth in the nation.), American Fuzzy Lop of the Year First – Tenth in the nation; Herdsman of the Year First – Tenth in the nation (First Place Awards for American Fuzzy Lop of the Year and Herdsman of the Year shall be equivalent.); Wool Class First – Tenth in the nation.   Recognition will also be given for Super Sweepstakes First – Tenth in the nation for points accumulated at the ARBA Convention and AFLRC National show.

                                                                                AFLRC will only replace or try to locate sweepstake awards that are awarded for up to 3 months after the awards are given out.  After 3 months, AFLRC will not be responsible to replace or locate the awards for our members.

                               SECTION 20.  Charter Breeder Program:

                               A breeder (adult or youth) is eligible for Charter Breeder recognition if they complete at least one of the following three areas in a given year, for three out of four consecutive years, by either earning 16 quality points or placed in top ten in national sweepstakes.

        Once a youth is a Charter Breeder, than as an adult they are still considered a Charter Breeder.

        Membership and points will be calculated the same as in the AFLRC Sweepstakes Program.  At the end of the points season, the Sweepstakes Chairperson will determine the individuals that have met the requirements for this award.  The Sweepstakes Chairperson, who will be the active chairperson of the Charter Breeder program, will keep records and determine completion of an individuals accomplishments and achievement of the program.  Upon completion of eligibility, the Sweepstakes Chairperson will award a Charter Breeder Patch.  Starting with the 99-00 Sweepstakes Points season all Charter Breeders will be recognized by year earned and listed in the Fuzzy Tales by alphabetical order.  A personal Charter Breeder number will not be issued.

        SECTION 21.  Master Breeder Program:

        Starting with the 2000-2001 sweepstakes year, a breeder must first complete the Charter Breeder Program before starting on the Master Breeder Program.

        A breeder (adult or youth) is eligible for the Master Breeder recognition if they can earn 16 quality points and 3000 sweepstakes points for five (5) out of seven (7) years.

        Membership and points will be calculated the same as in the AFLRC Sweepstakes Program.  At the end of the points season,  the Sweepstakes Chairperson will determine the individuals that have obtained at least 16 quality points and 3000 points open and youth.  The Sweepstakes Chairperson, who will be the active chairperson of the Master Breeder Program, will keep records and determine if an individual has completed first the Charter Breeder Program and determine when the individual has accomplishment and achievement of the Master Breeder Program.   Upon completion of eligibility, the Sweepstakes Chairperson will award a Master Breeder Patch.  All Master Breeders will be recognized by year earned and listed in the Fuzzy Tales by alphabetical order.

        SECTION 22.  Should two or more individuals show as a team, and that team dissolves for any reason, each member shall then begin a new point total as an individual.  Points previously earned on a team basis are not included in the new total.  This applies to all award categories.  Members who show as a team and enter animals under individual names shall have points calculated as two separate exhibitors.  Points earned under the individual name may not be combined with team points.  Members who show as a team but who reside in different districts may only compete for sweepstakes awards within one district.  The district designation shall be determined according to the address used on the team’s show entry form.

                                                                                SECTION 23.  Awards at the ARBA yearly convention and at any AFLRC Nationals will only be given to members of AFLRC that are in good standing at the time of the show. This rule only applies to awards that are paid for by AFLRC.
