The Lois Trump Youth Scholarship Application

 

PROCEDURES FOR YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS

Introduction

All applications must be submitted on forms obtained from an AFLRC District Director, AFLRC web site or Scholarship Committee member. Application should be submitted as a hard copy and in digital form.  It must be in the original format. All applicants must have held continuous AFLRC membership, in good standing, for at least three (3) years preceding application for scholarship, with at least one year as a youth member.

Two scholarships are available.  Level 1 is for students who have not yet attended college, e.g. someone graduating from high school.  Level 2 is for continuing students who are beyond their first year of higher education.  You can apply for either Level 1 or 2.

Level 1  scholarship procedures: 

1)      Applicant must be a graduating senior from high school to be eligible for consideration.

2)      Applicant must have completed high school with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a grade scale of 4.0 and be in the top 50% of the graduating class.

3)      Applicant may be currently enrolled in the first year of advanced education.

Level 2 scholarship procedures:

1)      Applicant must have completed at least one year of advanced education and be continuing to be eligible for consideration. 

2)      Applicant must have completed high school with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a grade scale of 4.00, and be in the top 50% of graduating class.  He/she must also demonstrate continued academic excellence in advanced education.

3)      Applicant may have completed the first year or more of advanced education, but must show continued progress toward completion of a degree program.  Provide transcripts of completed higher education.

 General Requirements and Information 

1)      Home-schooled applicants are eligible, but must submit SAT or ACT scores, and a letter of recommendation from a person outside the immediate family.

2)      All applications must include a complete High School transcript, plus a transcript of any advanced education.  Home-schooled students must provide an official list of classes completed in their course of study.

3)      Scholarship funds may be used to further the recipient’s education at any accredited four (4) year college, two (2) year college, vocational, or technical school.

4)      Scholarships will be paid to the member upon receipt of confirmation of college enrollment.

5)      A member of the immediate family of any AFLRC Youth Scholarship Committee member will be eligible to apply, but the committee member will not be able to participate in the selection process of this individual. 

 

NOTE: Applications will be accepted at any time of the year.  Awards will be made at the discretion of the Scholarship committee, up to twice per year (at the ARBA Convention and AFLRC National show).
